Recommended Brew Gear
At Fools Gold Coffee, we're passionate about great coffee from bean to cup. Below you'll find the brewing equipment we love and recommend — everything you need to get the most out of our single-origin roasts.
Grinders
A quality grinder is the single biggest upgrade you can make to your home brew setup. Here are our picks:
Hand Grinders
Kingrinder P2
A fantastic budget-friendly hand grinder and an ideal first step into freshly ground coffee. Great for AeroPress, cafetière and filter brewing without spending a fortune.
Kingrinder K6
A more premium hand grinder with larger burrs, improved adjustment control and a more robust build quality. Grinds faster, feels more refined, and is capable of excellent results across both filter and espresso brewing.
Electric Grinders
DF54 Single Dose Coffee Grinder
Probably the best value electric grinder currently available for home espresso and filter brewing. Compact, low retention and capable of producing excellent grind quality well beyond its price point. A brilliant first "proper" grinder for home coffee setups.
DF64 Gen 2 Single Dose Coffee Grinder
The bigger sibling to the DF54, offering larger 64mm burrs, faster grinding speeds and far more burr upgrade options in the future. Ideal if you want a grinder you can grow into long term for both espresso and filter coffee.
Scales
Precision matters. A good set of scales helps you brew more consistently and get the best from your coffee every time.
Rechargeable Coffee Scale with Timer
A brilliant budget-friendly option for getting started with weighing coffee properly. USB-C rechargeable, accurate enough for espresso and filter brewing, and includes a built-in timer without costing a fortune.
TIMEMORE Black Mirror Basic 2 Coffee Scale
One of the best coffee scales available for home brewing. Fast, responsive and beautifully minimalist, with features like a built-in timer and flow rate display that make it perfect for espresso, AeroPress and pour-over coffee alike. Feels genuinely premium without reaching Acaia-level prices.
Kettles
A good gooseneck kettle gives you far more control when brewing pour-over coffee. Slower, more precise pouring helps improve extraction consistency and overall flavour clarity.
VICBINLY Electric Gooseneck Kettle
A really solid budget-friendly option if you want to get into V60 or AeroPress brewing without spending a fortune. Variable temperature control, fast heating and a precise gooseneck spout make it far better than using a standard kitchen kettle for pour-over coffee.
Fellow Stagg EKG Pro Electric Kettle
Probably the most iconic coffee kettle out there — and genuinely excellent to use. Superb temperature stability, incredibly controlled pouring and a premium feel throughout. If you brew filter coffee regularly, this is one of those pieces of gear that just makes the whole process feel better.
Brewers & Filters
These are the brewers we reach for most often at home. Each one offers a slightly different style of coffee, but all are capable of producing genuinely excellent results with freshly roasted beans.
AeroPress Coffee Maker
One of the most versatile coffee brewers ever made. Quick, forgiving and incredibly easy to clean, the AeroPress produces smooth, rich coffee with very little bitterness. Brilliant for everyday brewing and perfect for people getting into specialty coffee.
AeroPress Go Coffee Maker
The travel-friendly version of the AeroPress. Packs down neatly into its own mug and is ideal for work, holidays, camping or throwing in a bag. Produces the same great coffee as the original while taking up almost no space.
Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper
The classic pour-over brewer and still one of the best ways to brew clean, vibrant filter coffee. The size 02 version is perfect for brewing one large mug or two smaller cups and is where many coffee enthusiasts start their pour-over journey.
Hario Switch V60 Immersion Dripper
A more forgiving take on the traditional V60. The Switch combines immersion and pour-over brewing, making it easier to get sweet, balanced cups consistently. Fantastic for experimenting and especially good for lighter roasted coffees.
For the V60s, don't forget filters: V60 02 Filter Papers
Coffee Bean Storage
The best place to store your coffee is usually the bag it came in — especially if it has a one-way valve like ours. Coffee bags are designed to let CO₂ escape without allowing oxygen back in, helping keep your beans fresher for longer.
The biggest things to avoid are:
- heat
- moisture
- direct sunlight
- repeatedly opening large bags unnecessarily
Vacuum Coffee Storage Container
A great budget-friendly option for keeping beans fresher for longer. Vacuum-style containers help reduce oxygen exposure and are ideal if you don't go through coffee particularly quickly.
Fellow Atmos Vacuum Canister
A premium vacuum storage canister designed specifically for coffee beans. Twisting the lid removes excess air from inside the container, helping reduce oxidation and keep coffee fresher for longer while looking fantastic on the kitchen counter.
